The article published by the LNF staff member Khaled Mnaymneh, titled “Enhanced photonic crystal cavity-waveguide coupling using local slow-light engineering”, has become one of the top articles downloaded ever in Integrated Optics from Optics Letters. The article explores enhanced cavity-waveguide coupling architecture based upon slow-light engineering in a two-port photonic crystal system. This article shows increased transmittance due to the enhanced cavity-waveguide coupling of the system. This result could be utilized to create next-generation planar light wave circuitry such as on-chip quantum information processing or high precision light-matter sensing applications.
